Please consider helping a prairie dear to our hearts - the most significant land conservation effort in SE Michigan in decades - Save Sibley Prairie! Sibley Prairie is not just land—it is one of Michigan’s most irreplaceable natural treasures. Located in Brownstown Township, Wayne County, it is the largest and highest-quality lakeplain prairie remaining in the entire state. Prairies like this once covered vast areas, but today almost all are gone. Sibley Prairie is the last of its kind. Recently, 440 acres—the very heart of the Sibley Prairie—were put up for auction. Had the sale gone through, this globally rare ecosystem would have been lost forever to development. In a dramatic turn, the owner has granted the Michigan Land Conservancy an option to purchase the land—but only if we can raise $6 million by the end of 2026. THE CLOCK IS TICKING! Fortunately, several organizations have banded together to Save Sibley Prairie. Our goal is to raise $1,000,000.
